Cealn Up, Clean Up, Everybody Clean Up!

Since I had the kids, I neglected the housework all week and just did the minimum, but come Friday, I could no longer take it. So yesterday morning I enrolled the kids in helping with chores. They were actually excited about it. I had each of them pick two chores from a basket and then they got to trade their chores with someone if they wanted to. To my surprise, the picking and the trading went off without a hitch. No fighting or arguing. Wow!

Viviana actually chose to do a third chore after she was done with her initial two of scrubbing the small bathroom by the kitchen and dusting the furniture. Her third chore was cleaning the glass on the french doors. Have you ever seen a child smile so big about cleaning? She is a strange one, I tell you.

Andy got to change the sheets on Mateo's bed and vacuum all of the rugs. Good job Andy!

Mateo got to scrub his bathroom and the guest bathroom. They were spotless!

Because they did such a good job with all of their chores, I allowed them to do whatever they wanted for the rest of the afternoon so they played on the computer and went swimming.

Cari came over to collect her children. We made a lovely dinner: Salmon with spaghetti and a cucumber & tomato salad and we ate out on the back patio. It felt good to be outside in the cool breeze.

After dinner, the kids ate their usual dessert of ice-cream with chocolate chips and chocolate syrup. Yes, this family loves chocolate!

We also had a little unexpected guest show up on our front porch and left his "calling card" on our mail pot (we don't actually have a real mail box yet so we use this clay pot as our mail box.)

Oh boy I think I need to dust the mail pot.

Blessings!
