Visiting The Huntington Gardens

One of our local treasures is the Huntington Gardens in San Marino.  The property is situated on 120 acres which includes over a dozen distinct gardens, a handful of museums, and a wonderful library which houses an impressive collection of rare books and manuscripts in the fields of British and American history, considered one of the most complete research libraries in the United States in its specialized fields.

The property and most of the collections in it, were the private property of Henry and Arabella Huntington.  Thanks to their philanthropic gesture, we are able to take in the beauty of the gardens, soak in the art, and pour over the books.

Although the collections have been augmented and more gardens have been developed on the grounds since Mr. Huntington's death, it is impressive to think about his vision for his estate.
